Despite its Japanese-like sound, Amakari actually comes from the Tamil language: "Am'ma + kari" which means "mother's (Am'ma) curry (Kari)", we then adjusted the letters to make it easier to read. Tamil is a language originating from the South of India, officially used in Pondicherry for example, but also in Sri Lanka and even Singapore.
The South of India is known for its varied cuisine, influenced by many cultures throughout its history, but which comes together on one central point: spices (cardamom, turmeric, saffron, ginger, etc.). Not only do they offer an incredible range of different flavors, but they are also very good for your health (antioxidant, good for digestion, etc.). This is what makes Indian cuisine one of the tastiest vegetarian cuisines on the planet!
Their mixture accompanied by coconut cream gave birth to the famous "curry" which has since spread as a specialty in many countries such as: Kare (Japan) mild and slightly sweet, Colombo (Antilles) mild, fragrant and with lots of vegetables.
With a name like ours, it is obvious that we want to offer a warm and family cuisine. We will certainly not replace the recipes of your childhood, but whether you are with friends, colleagues or family, we will do our best to make you have a pleasant time around a good meal!
